This will be a short post this evening as we are getting up early to catch a flight to Summit tomorrow am. That, and the internet is incredibly slow in my room so I have to prop the laptop in the window to get a signal- not terribly comfortable typing conditions!
Today we went for a hike around Lake Ferguson- our last chance to get out and move around before heading to Summit Camp (top of the Greenland Ice Sheet) tomorrow. We had beautiful weather- clear skies and it was almost a little too warm with temperatures in the 70’s. We saw several musk oxen along the way and stopped to watch them- they are pretty amazing creatures! Their wool, called Qiviut, is amazingly soft and apparently the most expensive wool. We sometimes see it stuck to the vegetation on the side of the trail. Today we also found blueberries in the tundra and some bolete (porcini) mushrooms.
