The next adventure commences; the IGERT students are headed to the ice sheet margin near Kangerlussuaq for a week of fieldwork and camping. We return on Thursday 8/2 and will provide updates on our work.
Our plan is to drive east from Kangerlussuaq and make camp at Seahorse Lake near the margin of the Greenland Ice Sheet. From there, we’ll explore new places every day and conduct fieldwork as we go. We plan to investigate everything from glacial geology to terrestrial and aquatic ecology, and are particularly interested in the interactions between these systems (for example, we continually ask questions like “how does the geologic history of this area determine the organisms that can live here?”).
Please check back for updates about our science and our adventures!
