Christine, Zach, Jess, and I had a very productive first day in Kangerlussuaq, preparing for our imminent departure for the field. After a delicious (and sugary — it was brown sugar, not cereal, Jess!) breakfast at the kantine, we met with the fabulous Kathy Young to get our gear in order. After lots of organization, pile-making, and reorganization in the warehouse, we have everything we need to be comfortable and productive in the field.
Our home is located just a short drive from KISS, just far enough from the road to feel removed from all civilization, but close enough for easy transport. We set up our cook tent and personal tents in among the dunes, getting a taste of just how many mosquitoes are out there (or perhaps I should say, the mosquitoes got a taste of us…).
