The KISS, Kangerlussuaq International Science Support (KISS) facility is our home base for much of our trip to Greenland. Kathy Young and the rest of the KISS staff helped us prepare for living on the ice at summit and the coastal tundra. Many people come to Kangerlusuaq on their way to more remote research stations such as Raven, NEEM, and Summit. You meet a lot of fun people passing through Kangerlusuaq from students and arctic researchers, to members of the Air National Guard and other transient residents. Coming off the ice sheet, everyone really appreciates the warm beautiful weather here.
